The Board of Directors of the Table Community Food Centre has announced that Executive Director Ramsey Hart will take an unpaid leave of absence in order to run as a candidate in the riding of Lanark Frontenac Kingston in the upcoming June 7th provincial election.  The leave is pending confirmation of his candidacy.

During the 6 week unpaid leave, which begins on April 30, there will be an interim management plan in place to ensure that the important programs, services and activities of The Table continue to run smoothly.

The board would like to reassure the Perth community that Mr. Hart will be using his own time and resources to work on his campaign during the pre-campaign and campaign period.  All activities related to Mr. Hart’s political campaign will be kept at arm’s length from his position as Executive Director of The Table.

Mary-Pat Shaw, Chair of the Board, has stressed that, as a registered charity, The Table Community Food Centre cannot and does not endorse any political party or candidate.

The outcome of the election will determine whether, following his leave, Mr. Hart returns to his position as Executive Director permanently or on an interim basis.
