E-News April 2025

Thank You, Bel Angeles

Anyone who knows The Table knows its Operations Manager, Bel Angeles. Bel recently wrapped up her work at The Table to pursue her other interests and passions. A talented artist and an accomplished organizational leader, Bel is one of those rare individuals who can draw equally on her considerable intellectual and emotional strength to benefit not only the organization, but the individuals around her.

Bel will be genuinely missed - though we still hope to see her often at The Table! We wish Bel the very best as she embarks on her new adventures.

Lanark County Community Action Network

All are welcome to gather, share stories, and reconnect with both past and present members. Let’s honor the impact LCCAN has made in our community and the relationships built along the way.

Falls Food Hub Update

The renovation of the Falls Food Hub location on Chambers Street in Smiths Falls moved a step closer in March. The Request for Proposals for the construction work went was issued and local firms are responding. The deadline to submit a proposal is April 17.

If you know any qualified contractors that may wish to bid on this project, please have them contact curtis@thetablecfc.org to obtain the RFP document.

Don't forgot to join the Falls Food Hub's Monday lunches from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hanley Hall Parish Centre, 30 McGill Street, North.

Federal Election

Canada is about to hold one of its most important federal elections on April 28th. We need a federal government that will take food insecurity seriously and act on policies that address the social, economic and cultural damages that arise when food access diminishes. Your vote is your voice and all Canadians have a right to healthy, nutritious and affordable food.

The Table and Elections Canada will be hosting an event on April 23rd to promote voter registration, provide information, and support Ontarians who experience barriers to voting. Please join us at The Table at 6:00 p.m.

To All Our Volunteers and Donors - Thank You!

On behalf of The Board of Directors and staff of The Table, a heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers and donors that contribute to our mission. You have been extremely generous with your time, your skills and your financial contributions. Our successes are your successes.

We ask a great deal of you and you deliver! While the need in the community is great (and growing, unfortunately), the positive impact you are making is also growing. Together, we build community by bringing people together with healthy, nutritious food.

Communities across Canada are bracing for an economically challenging 2025. There is no denying the impact in this region. If you know anyone who might benefit from our programs, please share our contact information with them. If you know anyone who might be willing to donate to The Table, we would be grateful to hear from them as well. Thank you.
